Audi R4 Seeking Production Approval

Audi is working on its R4 sports car which is a mid-engined, Boxster-sized, sports car. One bad news though is that Volkswagen has not yet given it a green light to hit the production line. Volkswagen is still to decide whether they will use an alloy or steel body construction for this new model. The platform that will be used for the Audi R4 will also be implemented on the BlueSport which was previewed in the form of the Bluesport Concept during the Detroit motor show back in 2009. The Audi R4 was previewed to the public as the e-Tron Concept during the 2010 Detroit Auto Show. The concept version used an electric motor but the production version will have an option for a 1.4L turbocharged engine and a 4-cylinder 1.6L engine running on petrol. There will also be a 2.0L 4-cylinder diesel powerplant.

BMW Z4 - GT3 Race Car

Details of the new BMW Z4 GT3 race car has been released and it is a fully race prepared vehicle for private race teams. Extreme weight loss program have attained the total weight down to 1,200 kg or 2,645 pounds thanks to carbon fiber reinforced plastic in various key areas. At the heart of the vehicle is the 4 liter V8 that breathes 480 PS/353 KW/ 473 BHP mated to a six speed sequential transmission with quick shift function. Handling is improved by anti lock braking system, new front axle and wheels with central locking and safety clips. This race car should be a strong contender as it passes GT3 regulation locally and internationally as well as 24 hour endurance races.

KRE House

Something cool I peeped over at mashKULTURE:

When designing KRE House in the posh Shirokane area of Tokyo, architect Takuya Tsuchida was given only two instructions. One was that there was to be a nine-car garage, with the possibility of viewing one of them from the living room. The other was that a tall tree was to be placed inside the house.

Mercedes-Benz - SLS AMG GT3 Race Car

Here are some of the first photos (leaked) of the Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 racer.

The car pictured here features a heavily revised body which includes the front bumper with large central intake and lower splitter, canard air foils, hood, fenders with deep wheel well vents, huge side sills, that massive carbon rear wing integrated into the boot lid, fuel filler pocket in the quarter panels and rear bumper with purposeful diffuser.

Naturally, the interior is completely stripped of all creature comforts such as navigation and air conditioning in favor of carbon fiber buckets and center console, an LED display instrument cluster, racing steering wheel, fire suspression system and roll cage.

Details are few on the SLS AMG GT3 racer. It will have an unspecified power boost over the 571 PS (420 kW / 563 bhp) of the standard model - somewhere north of the 600 PS (441 kW / 592 bhp) mark. There isn't much more than that to say, except to have a look at the photos and see what else you can spot.

The Mercedes SLS AMG GT3 racer will likely debut in the spring of 2011. Official details and biger photos are expected to be released on 27 March.
